Jazzy D. Rippy and Ameena R. Sheikh (pronounced “shake”) are the Co-Founders of LADIES IN LAW®.

LADIES IN LAW® has been recognized as a leader in the legal field by Marquis Who’s Who America, National Trial Lawyers Top 40 under 40 Michigan, and Expertise.com. Jazzy and Ameena have been featured in The Michigan Chronicle, Detroit Legal News, Michigan Lawyers Weekly, BLAC Detroit, Voyage Michigan, and Close Up Radio with Doug Llewelyn.

Both Co-Founders graduated magna cum laude in the top 10% from their law schools, The University of Toledo College of Law and Wayne State University Law School, respectively. Following law school, their paths crossed while working at a prestigious business law firm in downtown Detroit. After honing their skills at the firm, they left and teamed up to form LADIES IN LAW® in January of 2019.

During their time in “big law,” Jazzy and Ameena bonded over their dislike of using the law to “put out fires” rather than avoiding them. It was, after all, Albert Einstein who said, “A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it.”

Jazzy and Ameena recognized that problems can be avoided with proper Estate Planning. While Jazzy once watched families torn apart in Probate Court, or assets given to the wrong person, she now helps stop that from happening at all. While Ameena once worried about how she would take care of her special needs brother if he didn’t have government assistance, she now helps him and other disabled individuals continue receiving much-needed government benefits and their much-needed inheritances. This is all because of Estate Planning.

As a result, Jazzy and Ameena have made it their mission to make Estate Planning and Asset Protection accessible and attainable for everyday families. Estate Planning is all they do, making LADIES IN LAW® true specialists in this area of law.

Both Jazzy and Ameena value diversity and giving back to their community. Jazzy is on the board of the Michigan Arthritis Foundation, assisting with its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. Ameena is a board member of Figure Skating in Detroit, a non-profit organization serving girls of color by combining leadership and academic programs with figure skating training.

In her free time, Jazzy enjoys writing poetry and creating music. Ameena enjoys ice skating and playing with her 5-lb yorkie, Barney. Together, they enjoy checking out new restaurants, concerts, and events around downtown Detroit.

Finally, if you haven’t met Taylor yet, she is our Administrator. If it isn’t your attorney, she is your go-to lady! Taylor loves traveling abroad, so make sure to ask her about her most recent trip. And, as a mother to two young children, Taylor is just as passionate about Estate Planning as our Co-Founders.
